Today, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), the top Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, released this statement following a federal judge’s decision to reinstate former National Credit Union Administration Board members, Todd Harper and Tanya Otsuka, ruling that President Trump’s move to remove the two Democratic appointees in April was illegal.
“I applaud the U.S. District Judge for correctly ruling to restore Board members Todd Harper and Tanya Otsuka to their rightful posts at the National Credit Union Administration. This ruling means that the NCUA can finally get back to its critical mission of guarding the safety and soundness of our nation’s credit unions and protecting the hard-earned funds of American consumers, including our nation’s veterans, servicemembers, teachers, and students.”
