MONDAY @ 5 PM ET: Congresswoman Maxine Waters, House Democrats to Hand Deliver Letter to HUD Secretary Scott Turner Demanding Answers on Efforts to Decimate Federal Housing Programs

Following staff terminations within the Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), reports of closed field offices, and rolling back of civil rights enforcement, on Monday, March 3 at 5 pm E.T., Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), the top Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, will hand-deliver a letter to Secretary Turner requesting critical information for Congressional oversight. Members of Congress will address housing advocates and tenants immediately after for an event outside of the agency to sound the alarm on how Trump and DOGE's actions will worsen our nation’s housing and homelessness crisis and exacerbate discrimination in housing.

WHAT: Letter delivery to HUD Secretary Scott Tuner and subsequent event sounding alarm on recent actions.

WHO:

  • House Committee on Financial Services, Ranking Member Maxine Waters and House Democrats.
  • Housing advocate groups, including the National Low Income Housing, Coalition, National Fair Housing Alliance, impacted people, tenants, and more.
