Waters Statement on Terrorism Risk Insurance Act
Washington, DC,
December 10, 2014
Today on the House Floor, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Committee, criticized House Republican leadership and committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) for a bad faith negotiation on the renewal of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA). “What I say is this: we should know and understand exactly how the process works, what is being done, and why it is being done. We should have a clean bill, with nothing else in it. If we want to debate Dodd-Frank, let’s not slip provisions in at the eleventh hour – at a time when our backs are up against the wall, at a time when they are closing down this session. That’s what I’m opposed to. Watch Waters’ full statement here.
