Today, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-GA), the Ranking Member on the House Financial Services Committee, released the following statement on the recent passing of Congressman David Scott (D-GA): 

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of my friend and colleague, Congressman David Scott. David was a dedicated Member of Congress who spent decades fighting on behalf of the American people, particularly for working families, farmers, and underserved communities in Georgia. 

As a longtime member of the House Financial Services Committee, he was a strong and steady voice in advancing policies to expand economic opportunity. As Chairman and then Ranking Member of the House Agriculture Committee, he worked tirelessly to strengthen rural communities and ensure greater equity in our agricultural system. 

David led with compassion, conviction and an unwavering commitment to public service. His contributions to this Congress and to the country will not be forgotten. 

My condolences are with his wife Alfredia, his daughters Dayna and Marcie, the entire Scott family, his friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing or serving with him.”
