Yesterday, Committee Republicans voted to block a move led by Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (D-OH) and Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) to subpoena the Treasury Department for unredacted documents related to Jeffrey Epstein’s financial transactions through JPMorgan Chase and other financial institutions. This marks the SECOND time Committee Republicans have blocked the release of Epstein’s financial transactions—despite mounting evidence and increasing concern from the American people. The vote comes amid breaking news that JPMorgan Chase enabled and financed Epstein’s sex-trafficking network for several years. As Committee Democrats have made clear, access to this information about Epstein’s financial transactions and suspicious activities is crucial to “following the money,” exposing the full extent of these crimes, securing justice for the victims, and ensuring all parties involved are held accountable.
Committee Republicans’ vote to block the release of the Epstein files comes just a day after the American people learned that Trump left a salacious note, including a lewd drawing, in Epstein’s birthday book.
