Waters Delivers Opening Statement at Subcommittee Hearing Reviewing the Progress Made and a Plan to Achieve Full Economic Inclusion for Every American

Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Chairwoman of the House Committee on Financial Services, delivered the following statement at a Subcommittee on Diversity and Inclusion hearing entitled, “Unfinished Business: A Review of Progress Made and a Plan to Achieve Full Economic Inclusion for Every American.”

Thank you very much, Ms. Garcia. As we approach the end of the 117th congress, I’m reflecting on the tremendous work that has been accomplished under Chair Beatty’s leadership of this Subcommittee. This Subcommittee made history simply by its creation because it was the first of its kind, and it has proceeded to break new ground ever since. For example, I have been proud to release a series of reports with Chair Beatty that provided unprecedented transparency and accountability into the financial services industry’s performance regarding diversity and inclusion, so I look forward to reflecting on this progress and exploring the work we need to focus on next Congress to ensure that everyone has a seat at the table. Thank you, Ms. Garcia.

I yield back the balance of my time.
