Today, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee, announced the six Committee Members who will serve as Subcommittee Chairs for the 117th Congress.

Subcommittee Chairs were chosen through a selection process based on seniority, with the confirmation of all Committee Democrats.

“I am pleased to announce the very experienced, dedicated, diverse, and talented leadership of our six Subcommittees,” said Chairwoman Waters. “During the 117th Congress, the Financial Services Committee will continue to work tirelessly to fight the pandemic and make sure the financial system works for everyone. I look forward to working with each Subcommittee Chair during this Congress to advance bold solutions that benefit consumers, investors, and communities across the country.”

Below is the list of the House Financial Services Committee’s Subcommittee Chairs for the 117th Congress:

• Congressman Brad Sherman (CA-30) – Chair of the Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship and Capital Markets
  

“It is a great honor to be chosen by my colleagues to continue to serve as Chair of the Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship and Capital Markets,” said Congressman Sherman. “I look forward to continuing to work closely with Chairwoman Waters to both reverse the harm done to our regulatory framework by the Trump Administration, and to pursue an agenda of strong investor protections, improved transparency and public company disclosures, and increased access to capital for small companies.”

• Congressman Ed Perlmutter (CO-7) – Chair of the Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Financial Institutions
  

“I look forward to serving as Chair of the Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Financial Institutions and appreciate the support of my colleagues in this role,” said Congressman Perlmutter. “In the 117th Congress, the Subcommittee will play an important role in supporting the recovery of hardworking families and small businesses, monitoring the safety and soundness of financial institutions, and creating jobs as we build back our economy in the wake of the pandemic.”

• Congressman Emanuel Cleaver (MO-5) – Chair of the Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development and Insurance

I look forward to working with Chairwoman Waters and my colleagues on the Financial Services Committee to do everything in our power to expand our nation’s affordable housing stock, end homelessness in America, and confront the scourge of this pandemic in our insurance market and communities.”

• Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) – Chair of the Subcommittee on National Security, International Development and Monetary Policy

• Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-3) – Chair of the Subcommittee on Diversity and Inclusion

• Congressman Al Green (TX-9) – Chair of the Subcommittee on Oversight & Investigations

Subcommittee Chairs are subject to approval by the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee and the Democratic Caucus.
