Waters Statement on White House Ex-Im Reauthorization Meeting

Following a meeting at the White House with President Obama and small business owners affected by the shutdown of the Export-Import Bank, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Ranking Member of the Committee on Financial Services, underscored Democrats’ commitment to passage of a long-term reauthorization of the export credit agency.

She issued the following statement:

“I am pleased to join President Obama in continuing to bring attention to the need for the immediate reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank. Today’s meeting is part of a wide array of efforts to save the Export-Import Bank and prevent yet another Republican-driven, self-inflicted wound on our recovering economy.

While Republican leadership in Congress continues to indulge the extremist wing of their party to the detriment of U.S. businesses, Democrats remain deeply committed to passage of a long-term extension of the Export-Import Bank’s charter, to create jobs and provide businesses the certainty they need to compete and win in the global marketplace.”
