Financial Services Legislation to Ensure Affordable Mortgages
for Veterans Signed Into Law:

On Thursday, the Protecting Affordable Mortgages for Veterans Act
of 2019, bipartisan legislation led by Rep. David Scott (D-GA) and
Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY), Members of the House Financial Services
Committee, was signed into law.

This legislation addresses unintended administrative complications
that resulted from implementation of Section 309 of S. 2155, the
“Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act.”

“Our bill, H.R. 1988, is a bipartisan bill to correct this, and it will
preserve critical VA refinancing protections for our veterans while at
the same time allowing for these veteran loans to be securitized,
which means rolled into securities into investments into market
securities,” said Congressman Scott.
