FSC Schedule Updates

Week of 3/25-3/29

Next week, the House Financial Services Committee will convene the following Committee meetings:

Tuesday, March 26 at 10:00 AM – The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will convene a hearing entitled, “The Administration of Disaster Recovery Funds in the Wake of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria.”

Tuesday, March 26 at 2:00 PM – The full Committee will convene a markup of the following bills:

  • HR ___, the Ending Homelessness Act (Waters)
  • HR 389, Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Rewards Act (Lynch/Budd)
  • HR 1500, the Consumers First Act (Waters)
  • HR 1595, the SAFE Banking Act (Perlmutter/Heck/Stivers/Davidson)
  • HR 1815, the SEC Disclosure Effectiveness Testing Act (Casten)

POSTPONED: The Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship and Capital Markets will convene a hearing entitled, “Building a Sustainable and Competitive Economy: An Examination of Proposals to Improve Environmental, Social and Governance Disclosures,” at a date to be determined.


April 2019

On Friday,
Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee, announced several Committee hearings for the month of April:

Tuesday, April 2 at 10:00 AM – The full Committee will convene a hearing entitled, “The Fair Housing Act: Reviewing Efforts to Eliminate Discrimination and Promote Opportunity in Housing.”

Tuesday, April 2 at 2:00 PM – The Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development and Insurance will convene a hearing entitled, “The Affordable Housing Crisis in Rural America: Assessing the Federal Response.”

Wednesday, April 3 at 10:00 AM The full Committee will convene a Member Day hearing entitled, “Member Day Hearing: Committee on Financial Services.”

Wednesday, April 3 at 2:00 PM – The Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship and Capital Markets will convene a hearing entitled, “Putting Investors First: Reviewing Proposals to Hold Executives Accountable.”

Tuesday, April 9 at 10:00 AM – The Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Financial Institutions will convene a hearing entitled, “The Community Reinvestment Act: Assessing the Law’s Impact on Discrimination and Redlining.”

Tuesday, April 9 at 2:00 PM – The full Committee will convene a hearing entitled, “The Annual Testimony of the Secretary of the Treasury on the State of the International Financial System.”

Wednesday, April 10 at 9:00 AM – The full Committee will convene a hearing entitled, “Holding Megabanks Accountable: A Review of Global Systemically Important Banks 10 years after the Financial Crisis.”

Committee activities are finalized once an official notice is issued by the House Financial Services Committee.

Chairwomen Call for Increased FHLB Diversity: 
On Wedenesday, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Chairwoman of the House Committee on Financial Services, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Chairwoman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship and Capital Markets, and Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (D-OH), Chairwoman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Diversity and Inclusion, issued statements on a GAO report they requested in 2018 to address the steps needed to promote board diversity at Federal Home Loan Banks.
