On Wednesday, the full Committee held a hearing entitled, “Monetary Policy and the State of the Economy,” with testimony from Jerome Powell, Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

Committee Holds Virtual Hearing on How Bad Actors Are Exploiting the Financial System During the COVID-19 Pandemic

On Tuesday, the Subcommittee on National Security, International Development, and Monetary Policy held a hearing entitled, “Cybercriminals and Fraudsters: How Bad Actors Are Exploiting the Financial System During the COVID-19 Pandemic.”

The virtual hearing panelists included:

  • Mr. Tom Kellermann, Head of Cybersecurity Strategy, VMware
  • Mr. Kelvin Coleman, Executive Director, National Cyber Security Alliance
  • Ms. Amanda W. Senn, Chief Deputy Director, Alabama Securities Commission; on behalf of the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA)
  • Mr. Jamil Jaffer, Founder & Executive Director, National Security Institute, Assistant Professor of Law & Director, National Security Law & Policy Program

Waters Joins Pelosi and Top Democrats at Press Conference on Infrastructure Legislation

On Thursday, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Chairwoman of the House Committee on Financial Services joined with Speaker Pelosi, House Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman Peter DeFazio (D-OR), and other top House Democrats at a press conference to discuss the Moving Forward Act, House Democrats’ legislative package to rebuild American infrastructure. The legislation includes Chairwoman Waters’ legislation to invest in America’s housing infrastructure, the Housing is Infrastructure Act.

Chairwoman Waters made the following statement:

“This legislative package includes my bill, the Housing is Infrastructure Act, which would make much-needed investments into our nation’s affordable housing infrastructure to create or preserve approximately 1.8 million affordable homes. The creation and preservation of this housing will create jobs throughout the country, and create revenue for state and local governments, which will go a long way to help our economy recover from the continuing economic impact of the pandemic.”
