Financial Services, Oversight and Intelligence Committees Issue Statement on Supreme Court Decision to Hear Case for President Trump’s Financial Records

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Chairwoman of the Committee on Financial Services, Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY), Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, and Congressman Adam B. Schiff (D-CA), Chairman of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court agreeing to review cases for President Trump’s financial records:

“Both the District Courts and Circuit Courts found that Congress’ subpoenas to the President’s accountants and banks are valid and enforceable. While we are disappointed that Congress will now have to wait several more months to get a final ruling, we look forward to presenting our case to the Supreme Court, and we are hopeful that the Court will agree with these well-reasoned decisions. We remain committed to conducting our critical oversight and legislative functions under the Constitution.”
