WASHINGTON, D.C. - As House Republicans continue to shield President Trump from accountability for his crypto dealings—despite mounting evidence of conflicts of interest—Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), the top Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, will block tomorrow’s joint hearing on crypto with the Agriculture Committee, which requires unanimous consent from both Republican and Democratic members to proceed. Instead, Congresswoman Waters and Committee Democrats will walk out and convene a separate Democratic hearing to discuss Trump’s ties to crypto and blatant abuses of power.
This decision comes after Chairman French Hill (R-AK) refused Waters’ request to include provisions in legislation blocking Trump’s ability to further enrich himself from crypto.
